Following an intensive 5-year overhaul, the iconic ‘A3’ class steam locomotive Flying Scotsman was required to be transported from Ian Riley’s workshops in Bury (near Manchester) to the National Railway Museum in York for its public unveiling in its World War II LNER ‘black’ livery.
Flying Scotsman, built in 1920, shot to fame when it became the first steam locomotive to be officially recorded at 100mph and is part of the national collection, being homed at the NRM in York.
Moveright International moved the locomotive at the end of May 2011.
